Women Who Lead Coaching Program

A gaming company recently partnered on a signature offering with Mariposa Leadership to offer executive coaching as a high-impact program. In a female-focused enrichment program, dubbed “Women Who Lead,” each woman was matched with an executive coach, whom she worked with 1-1 over four months, meeting every other week in person with weekly touch-bases. The program included a confidential feedback report based on interviews with selected colleagues, a personalized Learning Roadmap, and curated resources. Sample objectives included being more influential upward and with peers, leveling-up confidence, executive presence, and maximizing team potential.

From Well-Liked to Well-Respected and Wise Leader

A Biotech VP heads a team with key inputs to the drug development programs from pre-clinical to postmarketing. The company had experienced significant changes over a couple of years. When Mariposa’s executive leadership coach began working with the client, she expressed feeling stagnant and wanting to challenge herself more. She aspired to lead a cohesive and effective team and be remembered as a leader who inspires.

Start-up Hacker Turned Leader

Client was a newly promoted VP of Engineering at a fast-growing tech start-up which was experiencing market success and had grown quickly over a couple of years. When Mariposa began working with the client, he was being asked to lead the entire engineering organization, which consisted of a couple dozen people and needed to continue to scale rapidly. Engineers were generally motivated and engaged, they worked very autonomously, and little process existed. Errors/issues were beginning to become problematic as employees weren’t coordinating well. The hand’s-on founder/CEO needed to focus on leading the company versus managing/directing the engineers.

Command-and-Control Leader Builds Empathy & Trusted Relationships

Client was a highly intelligent and successful performer. One of his superpowers was his strategic mindset and a persistent push for clarity on goals and alignment on the “why.” He was driven, decisive, direct, and unafraid to challenge the status quo. He needed to embrace and employ new ways of collaborating cross-functionally and developing his team. In this high-growth company, collaborating and developing talent on his team were keys to continued business success.

Instinctual Product Prodigy Turned Inspiring Leader

Client was an initial engineer of a start-up that was experiencing market success and had grown quickly over a couple of years. When Mariposa began working with client, he had just been promoted to lead a large part of the engineering organization, which consisted of two dozen people and needed to continue to scale rapidly. He was no longer managing engineers and tinkering with pet projects as he’d done in the past. His new role required aligning and motivating managers and making strategic product decisions. Re-orgs had been common and created thrash and loss of productivity and morale. He could no longer have fly-by or after-hour conversations to influence the founder. His communication needed to be more crisp, thoughtful, and timed, and his work more strategic.
